Khimaira FAQs :: Working With FrontPage :: Publish from server to your computer
| Information |
|
These instructions will assist you in opening your
site live on the server, and
then publishing from the server to your hard-drive.
If you lost your information on your hard drive and need to capture them from
your existing website, this is a useful process. Or, if multiple people are
working on a website from different locations, this will insure that you will
not overwrite changes that have been made since the last time you published
from your computer.
The first step is to open FrontPage and then click on "file."
Next: Click on Open Web
Next: Click on "Web Folders" in the lower left
hand corner. Then click on the "Create New Folder" icon. If you have already
done this, you should have a profile already saved. Below you will see many
saved profiles.
Next: Enter your domain name
http://yourdomainname.com
Then click the "next" button on your key
board.
Next: Click on the "Open" button at the lower
right corner to open your website.
Next: Enter your username and password
Next: Click on "file" then "Publish Web"
Next: Enter the directory target on your computer
that you want to publish to. Our example below will publish this website to
your C drive in a directory named "directory"
c:/directory
(NOTE: You will
probably just open your existing frontpage web folder and publish there.)
Click "Publish" and wait for FrontPage to complete
the publishing.
Using the publish command instead of just copying the files will preserve your FrontPage organizations and components properly. |
